In the northern hemisphere the pre-eminent bright
star used in celestial navigation is the Pole Star or
Polaris (Alpha Ursae Minoris), indicating the approximate
direction of north.
Many traditional fairisle knitting motifs feature a star
a favourite with knitters – as it lends itself so well to
the stranded colour work technique.
Two colours are knitted into each row, the colours alternately carried behind the work to create a soft and lightweight double-layer fabric which has excellent insulation qualities for cool days.
This is a luxurious and generous-size jacket up to 30 inches length, with two concealed pockets and shawl collar.
