Triskel Stone mittens
Celebrating the traditional celtic Triskel and worked in stranded fairisle style motifs.

Two colours are knitted into each row, the colours alternately carried behind the work to create a soft and lightweight double-layer fabric which has excellent insulation qualities for a cool day.

Mitaines Pierre Triskel

The triskel (triskelion / triskele) is an ancient triple spiral motif.

It can be found carved into the rock at prehistoric sites such as Newgrange in Ireland as well as at sites in Galicia and Portugal, and at ancient sites of asian cultures such as in Japan, China, Tibet and Korea.

It eventually became incorporated into celtic culture, taking on new meaning for the early celtic christians as a symbol of the Trinity.

It is the traditional symbol of Sicily (trinacria), the Isle of Man (triskelion) and Brittany (triskel), and has strange links with the british “tinners rabbits” (three hares) of the tin-mining areas of England's Westcountry.
